Caracas: Representatives from over 50 international leftwing parties gathered Thursday in Venezuela censured the US foreign policy, which intents to thwart the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA).

“The empire is committed to hinder ALBA with the illegal, criminal coup against constitutional Honduran President Manuel Zelaya,” the former president of the UN General Assembly, Miguel D Escoto, stated.

“The US is not only involved in a coup against Honduras but against ALBA in general, and it seems to be the new style of imperialism,” he noted.

Meanwhile, Nicaraguan ambassador in Venezuela Ramon Leets recalled that before leaving her post, former US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said that foreign policy with President Barack Obama would be the same as with George W. Bush (2001-2009).

“That is what we are seeing. During the Summit of the Americas in Trinidad and Tobago (April 2009), we hoped that US foreign policy would change a little, but the results are the same,” Leets pointed out.

According to him, the US policy must be faced by the unity of all Latin American and Caribbean peoples, and by all political parties advocating that a better world is possible.

The forum organized by the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), along with leftwing organizations, closes today, and delegates have been invited to attend the PSUV extraordinary Congress.
