US missile drone strike in north-west Pakistan

Islamabad: At least four people were killed Friday when an airstrike from a US drone struck a compound in north-western Pakistan, an intelligence official said.

The missile strike took place in the Burmal area of South Waziristan.. .

The unmanned aircraft fired two missiles into a compound, killing four people and destroying the mud buildings, said an intelligence official who requested anonymity.

‘The death toll might rise as locals are still doing rescue work,’ he said.

The United States has intensified its missile strikes in the tribal belt along the border…

In the past 10 days, more than 24 people have been killed in US drone attacks in the district of North Waziristan.

Islamabad has officially condemned the US drone strikes, but its intelligence agencies are believed to cooperate with their US counterparts in the CIA to identify the targets.
