Iran has launched its first nuclear power plant project without foreign assistance, Vice-President and Iranian Atomic Energy Organization head Gholam-Reza Agazadeh said on Tuesday.
“The first unaided construction of the Iranian nuclear power plant with the capacity of 360 megawatt has started at the presidential instruction,” he said. “If we fear to master nuclear technologies, our descendants will never forgive us.”
“The West is ready to give us the best nuclear power plants and technologies and improve relations in exchange for stopping our uranium enrichment research, but we should not rely on promises of the West,” he said. “The latest report by [International Atomic Energy Agency Director General] Mohamed ElBaradei informed Western nations that Iran has made progress in the atomic sphere and does not need their offers.”
