Dear Global Research Member and Newsletter Subscriber
In the course of the last week, financial markets have continued to tumble; the economic crisis has deepened. Major corporations in America and around the World are facing bankruptcy, leading the layoff of hundreds of thousands of workers. In developing countries, entire national economies are in crisis.
The largest banks in America, using the “bailout money” granted under the Troubled Assets Recovery Program (TARP) are in the process of consolidating their position.
This issue of the Global Research E-Newletter includes a selection of lead articles on the evolving financial crisis, the nature of the Obama cabinet, the US-Iraq agreement on troop withdrawal, the erosion of fundamental civil rights, the Middle East war, US-Russian relations.
It is our hope that the endeavors of Global Research authors, will contribute to curbing the tide of media disinformation, ultimately with a view to democratizing the financial system, eradicating poverty and and establishing an enduring peace in the Middle East.
It is, therefore, important that the articles published by Global Research reach a broad readership.
While Global Research operates on a shoe string budget compared with the well-endowed establishment think tanks, we have more readers than the powerful Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) (see graph)
