Iraq’s permanent representative to the League of Arab States, Qais Al Azzawi, has today called for the use of oil as a weapon to pressure the United States and other countries to end the Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip.

During a press conference in Cairo, Al Azzawi said that Iraq would demand that the ministerial meeting on Gaza use oil as a weapon to exert real pressure on the US and those who support Israel.

He added that the economic weapon was the most potent weapon to use in the present circumstances to demonstrate solidarity with the Palestinian people in the absence of any military power capable of deterring Israel. Arab foreign ministers will meet in an emergency meeting in Cairo tomorrow, 17 November, to discuss the Israeli aggression.
