Damascus Presents evidence of its Non-involvement in Chemical Weapons Use

Syria has provided UN inspectors investigating the alleged use on August 21 of chemical weapons near Damascus with evidence proving that Syrian troops did not use poisonous substances, Syria’s Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal al-Miqdad said on Wednesday. “Syrian government troops have never used chemical weapons. We have evidence proving that and we have presented it to the UN inspectors,” he said.

Earlier, the RIA Novosti news agency reported that Miqdad had visited the UN mission’s office. He was holding an envelope when he was seen entering the building. There was no envelope in his hands when he was left.
