The British Foreign Secretary has called for a ‘united front’ between Persian Gulf Arab states and the West to deal with Iran.

“I know that many countries in the region are concerned not just about the dangers of Iran’s nuclear program but also (about) Iranian activities in the region that cause instability in many countries of the Middle East,” Miliband told reporters in Saudi Arabia.

“I think it’s very important that there is a united front between the countries of Europe, America, Russia and China and countries of the [Persian] Gulf in addressing the range of issues that are posed by the Iranian regime,” Reuters quoted Miliband as saying.

Miliband’s remarks came after holding talks with his Saudi counterpart Saud al-Faisal in Riyadh on Wednesday.

The comments were made by Miliband as the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany called for talks in Iran in a bid to solve the nuclear standoff between the West and the Islamic Republic.

Iran says the West should change its hostile approach to the country if it wants to solve the differences between the two sides.
