Dangerous, yet very familiar “Iraq-esque” twaddle has dominated the headlines ahead of a clearly premeditated military attack against Syria:

The Obama administration believes that U.S. intelligence has established…

…could intervene to stop Syria using such weapons, following a suspected attack last week which is being investigated by the United Nations…”

planning to release evidence, possibly as soon as Thursday…”

The U.S. could hit Syria with three days of missile strikes, perhaps beginning Thursday

Missing, of course, is one essential element – actual evidence backing any of the claims being made to justify yet another episode of unprovoked military intervention launched by the US, UK, France, and their collection of regional partners.

Image: From Independent’s “Man whose WMD lies led to 100,000 deaths confesses all: Defector tells how US officials ‘sexed up’ his fictions to make the case for 2003 invasion.” In retrospect, the corporate-media has no problem admitting the insidious lies that were told to justify the invasion and occupation of Iraq – the lead up to the war was another story. A verbatim repeat of these admitted lies are being directed at Syria amidst the West’s failure to overthrow the government with terrorist proxies

….

The West has admitted it will not wait for the UN to finish its inspection of the alleged attack sites and insists instead that it will present its own evidence – presumably from the same CIA and MI6 that fabricated evidence regarding Iraqi weapons of mass destruction they knew did not exist. Whatever the UN does find will almost surely be spun just as it was during the lead up to Iraq.

Such spinning and fabrications eventually led to headlines like “Man whose WMD lies led to 100,000 deaths confesses all.” It can be imagined that after the West accomplishes its goals in Syria, the Western media will likewise divest from the lies they are currently selling to the public, and reveal with a shrug that indeed, Washington, London, Paris, Tel Aviv, and Riyadh never had any evidence to begin with.

While the general public appears to be more than aware that they are being led into yet another unprovoked, costly military adventure, based on “evidence” they neither trust nor believe even exists, they may not realize just how premeditated and deliberate this latest proposed international crime is.

General Wesley Clark in a 2007 speech in California discussed a 1991 conversation between himself and then Under Secretary of Defense Paul Wolfowitz. Wolfowitz indicated that America had 5-10 years to clean up old Soviet “client regimes,” namely Syria, Libya, Iran, and Iraq, before the next super power rose up to challenge Western hegemony. Also in 2007, it was revealed by Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Seymour Hersh in his New Yorker piece titled, “The Redirection,” that the US, Israel, and Saudi Arabia were conspiring to arm and fund Muslim Brotherhood and Al Qaeda-linked terrorists to create a regional sectarian bloodbath designed to subsequently overthrow the governments of Syria and Iran in a proxy war.

Clearly then, years before the so-called “Arab Spring,” regime change and the necessary military intervention needed to facilitate it in Syria was a foregone conclusion.  All that was left to do was to create the sectarian bloodbath, fan the flames of the predictable humanitarian disaster that would follow, and then sell a “humanitarian intervention” to the public to justify the otherwise unacceptable cost in human life and treasure necessary to achieve their purely self-serving geopolitical goals in the region.

A similar model was used against Libya, where an armed conflict between Western-backed extremists and the Libyan government was purposefully spun as a “humanitarian crisis” demanding Western intervention. Many of the collaborators inside Libya would later admit, that like Iraq, the evidence used to justify Western intervention was entirely and purposefully fabricated.

Since 2011, the West has feigned indecision over whether to support the “rebels” or not. In reality, it has been sending untold of millions in cash and literally thousands of tons of weaponry into the country along side thousands of foreign fighters drawn from extremist circles run by US-Saudi-Israeli intelligence networks.

It was the West, on record, that engineered the staggering civilian death toll it is now attempting to use as a pretext for further bloodshed. With public support at an unprecedented low, a mere 9%, the West has clearly exhausted its legitimacy and has entered into uncharted, desperate and very dangerous waters, bringing with them their war-weary populations, their decimated and crumbling economies, and their various shareholders, who if were wise, would begin searching for either the brakes or the exits.
