Russia sees it as inadmissible to hold Iraqi children in the military prisons of the US-led coalition force.

This came in a statement by the Russian ambassador to the United Nations Vitaly Churkin as he addressed the Security Council’s open meeting on Monday.

According to the United Nations, some 900 children were imprisoned on terrorism charges with no access to civil justice.

Besides Iraq, the underage children are held at a US military base near Kabul and at the Guantanamo base. The Russian diplomat urged the UN member-nations to fight impunity for major breach of international law provisions.
