Washington may build its missile defense system in Georgia [in view of] U.S. regional interests, Georgian expert Ghia Nodia deems.

He told journalists that U.S. strategic interests in the region and the threat of terrorism make the establishment of missile systems in Georgia real.

Alexander Vershbow, U.S. Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs (ISA), a few days ago again mentioned the Caucasus as a possible location for an American missile system deployment. However he did not pinpoint Georgia.

“The U.S. has an opportunity to use Georgia’s territory, and its strategic interests quite allow them to do so,” Nodia maintains.
