Baku: The United States included Ukraine in its plans for missile warning systems in Europe, U.S. Assistant Secretary of Defense for international security Alexander Vershbow told Defense News, APA reports.
He said Ukrainian officials also took an interest in this plan, which was reviewed as an architecture of new missile defense in Europe.
Vershbow said the U.S. withdrawal of missile defense plans in Europe put Moscow into euphoria, but Russian officials understood that the new plan considers the deployment of larger number of missiles and ships with Aegis missile complexes.
The United States announced on September 17 that it has postponed the missile defense plans in Poland and the Czech Republic.
Moscow positively reacted to this decision and said it would also leave the plans to deploy Iskandar missile complexes on its western borders.
Later on the United States announced that it was not related to the Russian position and it will develop more effective missile defense systems in Europe.
