MEXICO CITY December 14, 2008

Michel Chossudovsky, Director of the Centre for Research  on Globalization and Editor of Global Research, was in Mexico City to receive the prestigious award of the Mexican Club of Journalists in a ceremony celebrated on December 10.

The award designated Global Research as the best research and news website at an international level.

“Michel Chossudovsky, Premio Internacional de Periodismo por el Mejor Portal de Investigación Internacional.”

The event, broadcast live on Mexican network TV, was attended by prominent Mexican and foreign journalists, TV and radio producers, academics, Members of Congress, government representatives and members of the diplomatic corps.

Global Research is a collective endeavor.

We extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to Global Research authors, researchers and staff for their tireless efforts.

We also wish to express our gratitude to Global Research members and readers, who, over the past years, have supported the Global Research Project.

Freedom of expression was a central theme. The event outlined the numerous death threats directed against Mexican journalists for their coverage of controversial national and international events.

45 Mexican journalists have been assasinated since 2000.

One cannot kill the truth by killing by journalists

In his address to the Event, Michel Chossudovsky also underscored the assassination of independent (“unembedded”) journalists and reporters in the Middle East war theater.
