Premiere special issue of Global Outlook on "Stop the War", Spring 2002. Now available

This premiere  "Stop the War" Issue  focusses on the hidden agenda behind the so-called "War on Terrorism" "The story we hear on the news and read in the press is simply not believable". In the wake of the tragic events of September 11, with the mobilization of the largest display of military might since the Second World War, the United States has embarked upon a military adventure which threatens the very future of humanity. What we are witnessing is the US conquest of Central Asia and, at the same time, the destruction of the Rule of Law and the demise of democracy in many Western nations. .

Using the September 11 attacks as a pretext, governments are lining up behind the US to pass laws which pose a threat to social democracies throughout the West. In the US, military courts are being set up to try presumed "terrorists" behind closed doors, without appeal or public scrutiny. The onslaught of this war is occurring at the height of a global economic depression marked by  the downfall of State institutions, increasing debt, mounting unemployment and  the collapse in living standards in all major regions of the World.

With contributions from leading authors and critics, this special issue provides an in-depth examination into the various facets of the post-September 11 crisis: How US foreign policy has used and supported International Terrorism, US strategic interests in Central Asia, the Bush Administration's Kangaroo Courts and the "anti-terrorism legislation",  Recession and the Shift into a War Economy, Crimes against Humanity and the Derogation of Social Rights.
