En Quebec, el derecho a manifestar está en peligro según una investigación realizada por un organismo de defensa de derechos humanos.
La Liga de Derechos y Libertades dio a conocer en un reporte que la represión contra la movilización social se intensificó en los últimos 4 años en Quebec.
Desde el 2011, cerca de 7 mil personas fueron arrestadas en diferentes manifestaciones, principalmente en las ciudades de Montreal y Quebec.
La Liga denuncia los maltratos físicos y psicológicos en los arrestos masivos, la utilización de armas de control de multitudes y los recursos judiciales contra los manifestantes.
Las conclusiones de este reporte fueron presentadas al Comité de Derechos del Hombre de la Organización de las Naciones Unidas (ONU) para un examen de los compromisos de Canadá en materia de derechos civiles y políticos.
